Hall of Fame

The AWJ Hall of Fame Committee will meet no less than bi-annually to review and select finalists to present to the AWJ Chicago Board of Directors. Formal inductions will be made either during the AWJ Chicago’s Annual Membership Summer Picnic or Annual Winter Meeting, or at a dedicated event. Each recipient will be honored permanently on the Chicago Women’s Journalism Hall of Fame, presented by Association for Women Journalists Chicago website, and will receive a physical award.

Nomination materials can be submitted via e-mail or letter and should highlight the nominee’s notable achievements and how they have made outstanding contributions to further women in Chicago journalism. The nominee’s work in Chicago journalism, past and/or current employment, professional career highlights, awards received, samples of work, biographical materials and photos can all be showcased with the submission.

Nominees can be selected from any time, era, or type of journalism as long as they have a strong connection to Chicago journalism. Individuals, of any gender, who have made positive strides in advancing journalism, women’s contribution to journalism, or women in journalism through editorial policy of the editing of or preparation of news and editorial content of newspapers, magazines, press or syndication services, professional or business publications, radio or television, journalism education, or multimedia journalism are eligible for nomination.
